The program has been around for a few years now, yet most students have yet to claim the money. All you need to do is register on CalKids to make your account and claim the free money. EdSource found that in 2024, only 8% of eligible students claimed their money. That means 92% of eligible students are missing out on a free $500 that could be used for expenses, such as a laptop.
